Created in 1992 as regular cup competition to run alongside the Korean League Cup, the Adidas Cup became a popular early season tournament with the fans and players alike. The format for the tournament varied, from a straight league system with the top team picking up the trophy to two groups with semi-finals and even a straight knock-out competition.
